The Beginning

This is completly crazy. I'm sitting in the airport, about to embark on the journey of a lifetime. It still hasn't hit me yet, that I will be spending the next year in a foreign country. I said goodbye to my friends and family,(with some tears involved) but it doesn't seem like I won't see them for a year. It could be because it feels like Morocco is calling my name, with it's arabic whispers and far away Eastern Music. Two plane rides, and I will be in New York for Predeparture Orientation, where I will meet about 25 kids that I will be spending the summer with. I must say, I love National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y). An opportunity to go to Morocco fully paid for a year? A dream come true. My main goals for this year are : Learn as much arabic as possible, ride a camel, and become the person I want to be. Not exactly sure who that is though, but that's okay. Honestly, I just have no idea what to expect. It's easy to read about cultures, and study them, (which I have been doing)..... but I have a feeling I can never imagine in a million years what it is going to be like. But I know I'm going to enjoy it.
